Stretching southward from Manchuria and Siberia for close to miles kilometers , it extends down to the Korea Strait. China lies to Korea's west, separated from the peninsula by the Yellow Sea. Japan lies to its east on the other side of the Sea of Japan. Western societies have traditionally viewed the Korean peninsula as a remote region of the world. They have often referred to it as "The Hermit Kingdom" because it remained isolated from the western world until the nineteenth century. Yet it actually holds a central position on the globe, neighboring three major world powers—the former Soviet Union, China, and Japan.

Gee will be joining other pioneers and visionaries who have helped to define and shape the development and growth of travel and tourism in the AP region in their respective fields—airlines, hotels, architecture, culture and environment, aircraft design, literature, theme parks, as well as human resource development. As a pioneer in tourism education, Dr. Chuck just keeps bringing honor to our community as a UH leader, donor, regent, and now as a pillar of his profession and our most important industry. His induction into the PATA Gallery of Legends is testimony to the wisdom he has accumulated and shared during a life of extraordinary service and achievement. PATA has 41 chapters and thousands of members around the world. Its membership includes 90 government, state and city tourism bodies, nearly 50 international airlines, airports and cruise lines, as well as hundreds of private sector corporations. The UH System now comprises all public higher education in the State and provides a rich array of associate, baccalaureate, graduate, and professional degrees and certificates to about 60, students through seven community colleges, two baccalaureate campuses and a major research university that holds land-, space- and sea-grant designations.

In the post era, first- and second-generation immigrants include those from Mainland China , Hong Kong , Macau , and Taiwan. Also included in the Chinese-American population enumeration are ethnic Chinese from Malaysia and Vietnam who might identify themselves as Chinese, thus skewing the census reporting. New York City is home to by far the highest Chinese-American population of any city proper, with an estimated , Chinese-Americans in New York City ,  significantly higher than the total of the next five cities combined; multiple large Chinatowns in Manhattan , Brooklyn three , and Queens three are thriving as traditionally urban enclaves, as large-scale Chinese immigration continues into New York,     with the largest metropolitan Chinese population outside Asia. A similar demographic shift has also taken place in the southern half of the San Francisco Bay Area.
